Industrial-Dehumidifier-vs-Home-dehumidifier

What is the difference between an industrial dehumidifier and a home dehumidifier? Why is the price of industrial dehumidifiers higher than that of a home-type unit? Having the same extraction rating, why is their pricing different? We hear all these types of questions from our vigilant clients.

These questions are very obvious as well as are quite normal. For example, we have two models: CDM-50L, which is an industrial dehumidification system, and CD-50L is a home or consumer dehumidifier model. Both have an equal extraction capacity of 50 liters per day, but the price of the first one is almost double that the price of the latter. This article will explain the difference between the two types of air dehumidifiers.

Differences between home and industrial dehumidifiers

There are a few major differences between these two types of portable dehumidifiers. Let us check them one by one.

Airflow

For given extraction capacity models, the airflow of an industrial unit will always be much higher than that of its counterpart consumer dehumidifier. An industrial dehumidification unit can process high-moisture air at a given time and hence can reduce humidity faster than a home unit.

However, its capacity to intake air always depends on the temperature and humidity level in the room. More air intake by industrial units is required if the temperature and humidity are higher in the room, and vice versa.

Durability

Commercial dehumidifiers are built with a strong steel casing and high-quality quality durable internal parts. Compressors, coils, and sensors in industrial units are always of a much higher grade than home units. Durability is a major criterion in industrial dehumidifier design and will be subject to very rough weather and handling. Hence industrial model generally looks very bulky.

The least importance is given to the appearance and design. That is why it is also called a heavy-duty dehumidifier. On the other hand, a home unit is made up of plastic, and special care is taken so that the unit looks aesthetically good. The home unit has very low-grade internal parts, and hence, is very delicate compared to the industrial unit.

Condensate Tank

Most industrial large dehumidifiers do not have a built-in condensate tank. However, they are one step ahead. Industrial units either have a built-in condensate pump or there is a facility to install the condensate pump. Only small capacity industrial units (less than 50 liters per day) may have a built-in tank.

The pump has the ability to pump out condensate water at high elevations. Most of the home unit comes with a built-in condensate tank. Consumers generally prefer a home unit with a large capacity tank to avoid frequent tank emptying.

Price Aspect

From the first three points, it must be clear to you that industrial portable dehumidifiers should be more costly than home units. Even though both units have the same capacity but due to their construction & spare quality, an industrial unit is always costlier than its peer, i.e., a home dehumidifier.

Application Of Home And Industrial Dehumidifiers

As the name suggests, both units are used in industrial and home applications. Home models are used in hotels, libraries, hospitals, lounges, basements, etc. Whereas, industrial units are used at construction sites, big warehouses, oilfield sites, bakeries, commercial laundry centers, water pumping rooms, etc.
